WORD-WISE NIGERIA ENGLISH AND FRENCH DEBATE STRUCTURE

Three Categories:

Category 1: Upper primary

Category 2: Junior secondary

Category 3: Senior secondary

Three participants per category and per school

20 Schools in each category giving

60 schools altogether

With three participants per school, we have a total of 60 schools and 180 debaters.

GROUPING FOR ROUNDS

ROUND 1:

Upper primary (2 groups of 10 schools - 5 schools will qualify for the next round from each group given a total of 10 schools from this category)

Lower secondary (2 groups of 10 schools - 5 schools will qualify for the next round from each group given a total of 10 schools from this category)

Upper secondary (2 groups of 10 schools - 5 schools will qualify for the next round from each group given a total of 10 schools from this category)

ROUND 2:

Upper primary: 10 schools compete for the final round - 5 schools will make it.

Junior secondary: 10 schools compete for the final round - 5 schools will make it.

Senior secondary: 10 schools compete for the final round - 5 schools will make it.

ROUND 3 (FINALS):

All categories with 5 finalist schools each will hold their finals on the same day. Winners will emerge from each category and runners up.

Round One D- JS (Tuesday 4th Match March 2025 - 12noon-2:30pm):

Round One E- SS (Friday 7thMarch 2025 - 9am-11:30am):

Round One F- SS (Friday 7th Match March 2025 - 12noon-2:30pm):

End of Round 1 for all categories!

Round 2 Schedule:

Upper Primary: (Monday 10th March 2025 - 9am-2:30pm):

Junior Secondary: (Tuesday 11th March 2025 - 9am-2:30pm):

Senior Secondary: (Wednesday 12th March 2025 - 9am-2:30pm):

End of Round Two-

5 LP schools, 5 LS schools and 5 SS schools will make it to the finals.

A total of 15 schools make it to the finals.

Round 3: (Finals)

The finals will be a televised series on AIT (A Nigerian leading TV station).
